Scratch is a graphic programming language developed at MIT.
Taking this class provides a powerful learning tool for beginner programmers. Young students will learn fundamental programming concepts by creating animations and computer games with interacting characters. This course creates a beginner foundation in programming which can be used in other advanced languages.
We offer two versions of Scratch: Super Scratch and Action Scratch. In both of these classes, young students will use coding building blocks to build different adventures using animations and storytelling (Super Scratch) and games (Action Scratch).
No previous programming skills are required, however students should be comfortable using a computer.
Super Scratch and Action Scratch can be taken in any order. Once these courses are completed, we recommend students advance to Scratch Plus which allows them to create more advanced and complex games and animations with even more personalization.
Once students have completed Scratch, depending on grade level, we recommend 3D Game Design Kodu Plus, Modding in Minecraft, or Design with Python.
Both my kids think all the teachers are great and they are excited to come to class every Saturday. They think its fun and can’t wait to see what they are going to learn next!
